The worst has happened, after all my trawling for solenoids, making sure it had a proper return spring and creating the board to fix it within the case I seem to have forgotten something important…
The stroke length of the bolt!! Due to the clearance needed either side of the door to allow it to open the gap that the bolt has to traverse has doubled, this has caused a serious problem as if I try and put anything on the inside of the inner case to catch the end of the bolt it prevents the door from moving. At this late stage there is nothing I can do but leave the back panel of the door box free so I can redesign it at a later date. As far as this project deadline is concerned it won’t be fixed in time.
